How long does Doxil rash last?

This is also a common drug reaction usually occurring within 36 hours of drug exposure. The lesions rarely last for more than 24 hours.

Can Doxil cause a rash?

The infusion can cause a reaction that may lead to shortness of breath, facial swelling, fast heart rate, rash, chills, chest or throat tightness or pain, back pain, fever, low blood pressure, nausea, and vomiting. This is most often associated with the first time this medication is administered.

What happens if doxorubicin gets on your skin?

Within days to weeks after doxorubicin treatment, a serious skin reaction that looks likes a severe sunburn (radiation recall) may develop on any area of skin that has been previously treated with radiation. Tell your doctor immediately if you develop skin redness, pain, tenderness, swelling, peeling, or blisters.

  • Body aches/pains, headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, stomach upset, and loss of appetite may occur.
  • This medication may give a reddish-orange color to your urine, tears, and sweat.

Does chemo cause brown spots on skin?

Hyperpigmentation often appears 2 to 3 weeks after chemotherapy treatment begins and goes away as new skin cells replace the dead cells at approximately 10 to 12 weeks after treatment is over. However, this darkening may occasionally be permanent.

What helps a rash from chemo?

For mild to moderate skin rashes, your doctor may prescribe a corticosteroid cream along with an oral antibiotic or antibiotic cream. If the rash is more severe, you may receive oral corticosteroids, and your chemotherapy regimen may be adjusted. Your doctor may also recommend an antihistamine to combat itching.

Do you lose your hair with Doxil?

Temporary hair loss may occur. Normal hair growth should return after treatment with Doxil has ended. Treatment with Doxil may sometimes cause your hands or feet to develop a skin reaction called hand-foot syndrome (palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia).

Can doxorubicin affect your eyes?

Blepharospasm, keratitis, and decreased visual acuity were reported once each in patients treated with combination chemotherapeutic regimens containing doxorubicin. These reactions usually resolved rapidly on discontinuation of the drug. Conjunctivitis frequently followed accidental ocular exposure to doxorubicin.

Doxil is used to treat AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and other solid tumors. Note: If a drug has been approved for one use, physicians sometimes elect to use this same drug for other problems if they believe it might be helpful.
