How accurate is Carfax maintenance records?
Despite the vast number of resources available, CARFAX vehicle history reports should not be considered completely reliable. There’s just no way that one of these reports can be all-inclusive. In fact, we have found major problems with some CARFAX vehicle history reports.
What is considered a clean Carfax?
A clean CARFAX® report means the vehicle has a clean car title and that no major issues have been reported with the vehicle. No outstanding liens are present. There has been no salvage, rebuild, or recall from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

If the dealer or auto shop owner regularly reports incidents to the site, the car you are looking for will have up-to-date information regarding issues such as oil changes.
